Avrupa Birliği, kullanıcı verilerini ABD’ye aktardığı için Facebook’a 1.2 milyar euro (1.3 milyar dolar) ceza kesti.

Avrupa Birliği Facebook’a Ceza Kesti

Meta şirketi çatısı altında faaliyet gösteren Facebook, Avrupa Birliği sınırları içerisinde yer alan kullanıcılar verilerini ABD’ye aktardığı sebebiyle ceza ile karşılaştı. Avrupa Birliği sınırlarında geçerli olan GDPR isimli gizlilik yasasının ihlal edilmesi düzenleyicileri harekete geçirdi.

İrlanda Vergi Koruma Komisyonu tarafından Facebook’un gizlilik yasasını ihlal etmesi sebebiyle inceleme başlatıldığı duyuruldu. Bu duyuruda Facebook’un bağlı olduğu Meta şirketine 1.2 milyar euro (1.3 milyar dolar) ceza kesildiği duyuruldu.

İhlalin Avrupa Birliği kullanıcılarının verilerini ABD’ye aktararak yapıldığı da açıklamada yer buldu.

Facebook Metaverse Yatırımları Sebebiyle Büyük Zarar Etmişti

Facebook, Metaverse odaklı yatırımları sebebiyle 13.72 milyar dolarlık bir zarar yaşadığını duyurmuştu. Bilindiği gibi Facebook şirketi artık Meta isimli bir tepe şirkete bağlı. Şirketin Metaverse bölümünün yapmış olduğu yatırımların başında Reality Labs yer alıyordu. Bu proje de 4.28 milyar dolar zarar ettiği duyurulmuştu.

Şirketin kurucusu ve CEO’su olan Mark Zuckerberg, Metaverse yatırımlarına devam edileceğini de yaptığı açıklamada belirtilmişti:

”Önceliklerimiz değişmedi. Yol haritamızı yönlendiren iki büyük teknolojik dalga, bugün yapay zeka ve uzun vadede Metaverse.”
